Mangione apparently reviewed Unabomber’s book on Goodreads
ALEJANDRA O’CONNELL-DOMENECH
A Goodreads account under the name Luigi Mangione which features a profile photo of the shooting suspect that looks similar to those shared on other social media platforms, gave a book written by Ted Kaczynski a four-star review early this year, according to The New York Times.
Kaczynski, otherwise known as the Unabomber, was a Chicago-born mathematician and domestic terrorist whose mail bombing campaign killed three people and injured more than two dozen others during the late 1970s and early 90s.
“It’s easy to quickly and thoughtless write this off as the manifesto of a lunatic, in order to avoid facing some of the uncomfortable problems it identifies,” reads the review. “But it’s simply impossible to ignore how prescient many of his predictions about modern society turned out.”
Mangione appeared to track his reading habits on the website, listing book including science fiction (“Ender’s Game”), airport bookstore standbys (“Freakonomics,” “Outliers”) and young adult classics like the “Harry Potter” and “Hunger Games” series, per The Times.
