Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), the Senate Majority Whip, on Sunday expressed concern about the recent reporting on U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle and her finances.
“Well, what we’ve seen in the reports is very troubling. It’s concerning. And I’m sure there’s going to be an investigation. I would assume the State Department would be conducting that,” Barrasso told CBS’s Margaret Brennan on “Face the Nation.”
“I know that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will have oversight and look into that as well. But I think the public has a right to know what was — what is found, and it is quite a bit of concern,” he added.
On Thursday, the Wall Street Journal reported that Guilfoyle asked a Trump donor named Eric Deters to pay a $100,000 credit card bill, passing along instructions for a wire transfer that would not leave a paper trail.
“It won’t show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express,” Guilfoyle wrote on Signal in July 2025, according to messages reviewed by The Hill.

Guilfoyle raised concern at the time that her conversations with Deters would risk her confirmation chances.
The Journal later reported Saturday that senior Trump administration officials were talking about Guilfoyle’s future in her role and that a decision from President Trump was coming shortly. The outlet’s reporting included new allegations that wealthy Greek businessmen put money toward Guilfoyle’s luxury travel as she used her role to promote their business interests.
