Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said that three of his New York offices received bomb threats Monday morning.

Schumer said Monday on the social platform X that he was informed by law enforcement that his offices in Rochester, Binghamton and Long Island received threats. The threats were in an email with the subject line “MAGA” and from an address alleging that the 2020 presidential election, in which former President Biden defeated President Trump, was “rigged.”

Trump made similar claims regarding the 2020 election, including during his speech to a group of supporters before the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Schumer added that local and federal law enforcement “responded immediately” to the threats and “are conducting full security sweeps” of the offices. He added that “everyone is safe” and he is “grateful for their quick and professional response to ensure these offices remain safe and secure for all New Yorkers.”

A spokesperson for U.S. Capitol Police declined comment, saying it “cannot discuss member security.”

The Hill has also reached out to the Rochester and Binghamton police departments for comment.

Rochester Police Capt. Greg Bello told The Hill Monday that the city’s police department “did not handle anything” regarding the threat to Schumer’s office. Bello added that the threat would have been handled by federal law enforcement.

The Hill has also reached out to the Binghamton Police Department for comment.

“As I have said many times, these kinds of violent threats have absolutely no place in our political system,” Schumer noted. “No one—no public servant, no staff member, no constituent, no citizen—should ever be targeted for simply doing their job.”
