Trump Responds to Army Base Shooting: ‘Horrible’© IMAGN

Five U.S. soldiers have remained hospitalized following a shooting incident at Fort Stewart, Georgia, where Sgt. Quornelius Radford allegedly opened fire using a personal handgun. The attack prompted an immediate lockdown of the military base and a swift emergency response. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting as the soldiers receive treatment for their injuries.

The military base went into lockdown shortly after the shooting. It was partially lifted by 12:10 p.m. and fully lifted by 2 p.m. Other soldiers reportedly tackled Radford until law enforcement arrived, preventing further injuries.

The FBI and Army Criminal Investigation Division are probing the incident. Radford, who enlisted in 2018 and has served at Fort Stewart since 2022, had no combat deployments. He was arrested on charges of DUI earlier this year, though his command learned of the charge only after the shooting.

President Donald Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem were briefed on the incident. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp offered condolences and urged the public to support the victims and their families.

Trump said, “I was praying for the victims. Two of the wounded were ‘very, very seriously hurt.’” He added, “The entire nation is praying for the victims and their families, and hopefully, they’ll fully recover.”

Trump added, “We’re not going to forget what happened. We’re going to take very good care of the person who did this. Horrible person.”

Kemp wrote, “Marty, the girls, and I are saddened by today’s tragedy at Ft. Stewart. We are keeping the victims, their families, and all those who answer the call to serve in our hearts and prayers, and we ask that Georgians everywhere do the same.”
