Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) was projected to fail to advance to the runoff in the state’s GOP Senate primary Saturday, according to Decision Desk HQ.
Trump has endorsed Rep. Julia Letlow (R) in her challenge against Cassidy. Polling from last month showed Cassidy trailing Letlow and Republican John Fleming, who currently serves as the state treasurer.
On the other side of the aisle, three candidates — former Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) aide Nick Albares, consultant Gary Crockett and farmer Jamie Davis — are seeking the Democratic nod.
