President Trump on Saturday said he wants the proposed arc in Washington, D.C., to be the “biggest” in the world.

The president told reporters that he’s considering building “an arc that’s like the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.”

“We’re setting up a committee ,and the committee is going to be going over it, but it’ll be substantial,” the president told reporters aboard Air Force One.

“I’d like it to be the biggest one of all. We’re the biggest, most powerful nation. I’d like it to be the biggest one of all,” he added.

Trump first spoke about the project last October, during a dinner for donors contributing to the renovation of the White House ballroom.

At the time, Trump said the arc’s location would be near the Lincoln Memorial at the entrance to Washington.

A report from The Washington Post said the president is considering building the arc to stand at 250 feet tall, towering over Paris’ Arc de Triomphe, which stands at 164 feet.

It would also become the world’s largest arc, surpassing the Monumento a la Revolución (Monument to the Revolution) in Mexico City, measured at 220 feet.

The Post said the president was first considering developing a temporary arc but decided on a permanent structure to honor America’s 250th anniversary. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.

“There are 57 cities throughout the world that have them. We’re the only major city, Washington DC, that doesn’t…” the president told reporters Saturday.

“So we have an unbelievable arc that I think will be the most beautiful in the world being built there. It’s going to be built there,” he added.
