Rapper Nicki Minaj made a surprise appearance on Sunday at Turning Point USA’s annual “AmericaFest” conference, where she talked to the organization’s Erika Kirk about President Trump and mocked California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).
Minaj criticized Newsom over his support for transgender health care for minors. She also discouraged the prominent Democrat from running for president, suggesting he “get on the nearest Jet Ski and let that beautiful hair blow in the wind. It will make you happier than this race that you will not win.”
“I want you to say whatever you want to say to Mr. Newsom,” Kirk told Minaj at one point in their conversation.
“Dear Newscum,” Minaj said, using a nickname Trump has used for the California governor in the past. “We don’t have a problem cleaning up the scum if we have to. Please tread lightly.”
“That’s what I would say to Gavvy-poo,” she added.

This fall, Trump threatened to mobilize U.S. forces on Islamist terrorists killing Christians in Nigeria, placing blame on Nigerian leaders for not working on the problem and labeling it a “country of particular concern” (CPC) because of religious violence.
Minaj praised Trump’s move to label Nigeria a CPC, saying on the social platform X in early November, “Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously.”

The rapper has also recently taken swings at Newsom on her X feed, with one post from earlier this month reading “looks like there’s some new scum on the timeline.”
“So, with regard to the current administration, what has been — maybe the biggest surprise for you, or something that you just — really has been put on your heart, that you’ve learned about our president and our vice president?” Kirk asked Minaj during the conference.
“Well, I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president,” the rapper replied. “He has, I don’t know if he even knows this, but he’s given so many people hope that there’s a chance to beat the bad guys and to win and to do it with your head held high and your integrity intact. He’s from Queens, New York, like me.”
The Hill has reached out to Newsom’s press office for comment.
