Police in Providence, R.I., and the FBI released new photos and video of a person of interest in Saturday’s deadly shooting at Brown University, as the manhunt for the gunman passes 48 hours.
In one video, the individual, donning a dark green and gray jacket, dark shoes, dark pants, a dark beanie and a dark face mask, walks down a sidewalk on Benevolent Street before pausing, looking around and slowly heading back in the direction they came. In two other videos, the individual walks across a road on Cook Street and walks down a sidewalk past a gated building on Manning Street.
Two photos released by Providence police also show the person of interest walking near Benevolent and Hope streets.
Providence Police Department Chief Oscar Perez said at a Monday evening press conference that investigators believe the individual in the latest photos and video is the same individual in a video his department released earlier in the day.
In that video, which is time-stamped at 4:06 p.m. EST, the person walks down a sidewalk as cars pass by. The individual is dressed in dark clothes and shoes.
The FBI is also offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for the shooting. The bureau described the person of interest as a man, standing roughly 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a stocky build.
Providence police also released a video of a person of interest on Saturday. The video shows an individual wearing dark clothes and walking around a street corner. The Hill has reached out to a spokesperson for the department for clarification on whether that is the same person in the other photos and video.

The FBI, which is running the probe out of its Boston field office, also encouraged those with information on the case to contact the FBI or Providence police, or to submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
“No amount of information is too small or irrelevant,” Ted Docks, FBI special agent in charge, said at Monday’s presser. Docks noted that the individual responsible for the shooting is believed to be “armed and dangerous.”
The new photos and video were taken from 2:08-2:53 p.m. EST on Saturday, prior to the shooting at Brown. The university alerted students and campus faculty of an active shooter near the Barus and Holley engineering building at 4:22 p.m. EST.
At least two students, sophomore Ella Cook and freshman Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, were killed and nine were injured. Officials have said the shooting occurred in a classroom.
Authorities detained a person of interest in connection with the shooting early Sunday morning at a hotel in nearby Coventry, R.I. But authorities released that individual, identified by Perez as a man in his 20s, later Sunday.
The police chief said at a Sunday night press conference that authorities identified the man via a tip — which Perez said was passed off to the FBI — but the evidence obtained was ultimately insufficient to keep him.
On Monday, Perez said the “complex” investigation into the shooting is ongoing and noted that local authorities are coordinating with the FBI; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Homeland Security Investigations; U.S. Marshals Service; IRS; and other federal agencies.
“It’s all hands on deck,” he added.
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley (D) and Rhode Island Gov. Daniel McKee (D) noted at Monday’s press conference that state police are also assisting, while Smiley said that authorities from nearby North Kingstown, East Providence, North Providence, Central Providence and Pawtucket are also offering support.
