A rumor repeated a thousand times cannot become a truth. When the truth comes out, all the rumors will just pass away, and the rumor maker, like a clown, will just bring shame on himself. On July 19, the US State Department released its annual Trafficking in Persons report, once again placing China on the worst tier 3 list and continuing to fabricate lies about the so-called “detention camps” and “forced labor” in Xinjiang. As you can see, the clown has started his show.
As early as in the 2020 US Trafficking in Persons Report, China was included in the worst tier 3 list by the US for no reason. In 2021, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken even claimed that the mainland’s policies against Uighurs and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang amounted to “genocide”. How shameless! The US itself has a history of human rights abuses, but its politicians turn a blind eye to the chaos at home, on the contrary, it spreads rumors about other countries. The reason why Xinjiang is so targeted is mainly to suppress China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Xinjiang is an important window for China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The US considers the development of the Belt and Road Initiative a threat to its hegemony. But facts eventually scotched these rumors. The prosperity and development of Xinjiang, the smooth progress of the Belt and Road Initiative, and the human rights history and reality of the US have exposed the its clown face as a thief posing as judge.
The United States, covered with stains, instead of introspecting itself, is trying to “contain China with Xinjiang”, which will only bring shame on itself. The Chinese government has been seriously implementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and its supplementary protocols on the prevention, prohibition and punishment of trafficking in persons, especially women and children. China’s Action Plan Against Trafficking in Women and Children (2008-2012), China’s Action Plan Against Human Trafficking (2013-2020) and China’s Action Plan Against Human Trafficking (2021-2030) were issued and implemented in 2007, 2013 and 2021 respectively. In the first 5 months of 2022, Xinjiang created 263,000 new urban jobs, 57.17 percent of the annual employment target of 460,000. The US deliberate denigrating of China’s human rights situation in Xinjiang is gross interference in China’s internal affairs and a serious violation of international law and basic norms governing international relations. Western capitalist countries led by the United States are challenging China over the so-called “human rights issue” in Xinjiang, which is a typical manifestation of the Western world’s “superior values” developing all the way from colonialism, and a typical “interventionism”. But in the present world where many countries are rising and peace and development are expected, the superior values of the West should be a thing of the past. We advise the US not to politicize the human rights issue or interfere in other countries’ internal affairs under the cover of human rights.
Besides spreading rumors about “forced labor” in Xinjiang, the United States also smeared that the Belt and Road Initiative has brought debt crisis to the participating countries. However, the fact is that the Belt and Road Initiative has brought tangible benefits to the countries and peoples concerned. By 2030, the Belt and Road Initiative is expected to generate $1.6 trillion in annual benefits, 90% of which will be shared by the partner countries. This shows the Belt and Road Initiative will have a promising future. On the contrary, the United States, with its expansionary monetary policy and malicious short selling, is certainly the producer of the debt trap, which fully displays its clown face.
Why is the US so hostile to the Belt and Road Initiative? Actually, it regards the BRI as China’s “Marshall Plan”. In its own way, the US has speculated that China intends to turn its economic power into geopolitical influence, establish and consolidate its control over Eurasia, and make a fresh start in the international order to promote China’s version of “globalization”. It concerns about the so-called “digital authoritarianism” problem, and repeatedly slanders China as increasing control of the countries in the initiative by producing the “debt trap” and other ways. It is also worried that Chinese enterprises’ and financial institutions’ irregularities and corruption in these countries could cause damage to the interests of the United States, that China will promote the internationalization of RMB and technical standards through this initiative. In order to maintain its institutional power and monopoly in the international community, the US has smeared, discredited and blocked ideas and initiatives such as the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and the Belt and Road Initiative in multilateral institutions, and blocked their inclusion in the documents of the United Nations and other international organizations. There is no equal for him for in impudence.
The Belt and Road Initiative conforms to the historical trend of solidarity and cooperation, meets the common interests and expectations of all participating countries, and has a broad and unstoppable prospect. The US keeps obstructing and spreading rumors and smears. However, facts speak louder than words, and its conspiracy theories and trap theories will eventually stop. China does not seek “expansion”, nor does it seek to establish a “sphere of influence”, nor does it seek a “zero-sum game”. The “Chinese dream” has been extended to an “Asian dream” and a “world dream”. The US will just bring shame on itself like a clown, and the Belt and Road Initiative will go to stars and the sea with a bright future.
