Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) slammed the Department of Justice (DOJ) for dismissing the criminal case against New York Mayor Eric Adams, saying it\u2019s \u201coutright extortion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Goldman joined MSNBC\u2019s \u201cInside with Jen Psaki\u201d on Sunday, where he weighed in on the mayor\u2019s legal developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is an outright extortion,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is way, way, way outside the bounds of the Department of Justice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DOJ formally asked a federal district court to drop the corruption charges against Adams after federal prosecutors in Manhattan resigned instead of dismissing the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attorney General Pam Bondi said on Friday that the charges against the mayor, brought last September, were going to be dismissed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove said the criminal proceedings interfere with Adams\u2019 ability to govern New York City and that would pose \u201cunacceptable threats\u201d to safety and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Hill&#8217;s Headlines &#8211; February 16, 2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though Goldman criticized Adams\u2019 charges being dismissed, he wasn\u2019t very supportive for New York Gov.
