(NEXSTAR) \u2014 Just days after being tapped to co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency, Elon Musk is searching for \u201chigh-IQ\u201d individuals willing to work long hours to join the taskforce. But the job may not come with a paycheck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Musk and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will spearhead the new department during his administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite its name, DOGE isn\u2019t an official government agency. Instead, it\u2019s a private initiative that Trump said will advise the White House on ways to reduce spending, cut regulations and \u201ccreate an entrepreneurial approach to government never seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people,\u201d Musk said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is DOGE, the new department Musk and Ramaswamy will lead under the Trump administration?
While it\u2019s unclear how the department will operate, we at least know the type of team members DOGE is looking to recruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dWe need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting,\u201d the taskforce said in a Thursday morning post on X, Musk\u2019s social media platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those interested in joining DOGE were encouraged to send their resumes or CVs via direct message to its official X account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cElon & Vivek will review the top 1% of applicants,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When an X user pointed out that the \u201ctask at hand will require a monumental amount of tedious super-high quality work,\u201d Musk agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIndeed, this will be tedious work, make lots of enemies & compensation is zero. What a great deal!\u201d the billionaire Tesla and SpaceX CEO replied with a laughing emoji. Musk previously said that neither he nor Ramaswamy were getting paid to run DOGE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with Fox\u2019s Sean Hannity on Wednesday, Ramaswamy said the agency plans to \u201cstimulate the economy and to restore self-governance again\u201d while slashing and burning government bureaucracy to help Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the taskforce takes shape, Ramaswamy said on X that they want to be \u201cas transparent as possible with the public,\u201d and a weekly DOGE podcast, titled \u201cDogecasts,\u201d is on the horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
