House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) condemned comments from Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), calling him \u201cthe ultimate hypocrite\u201d after the Democrat claimed former President Trump is trying to manipulate the electoral college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRanking member Raskin is the ultimate hypocrite,\u201d Comer told Fox News Digital. \u201cHe talks a big game about \u2018saving democracy\u2019 yet actively undermines it by sowing seeds of doubt in America\u2019s free and fair elections when it benefits him to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Maryland representative recently told Axios that if Trump \u201cwon a free, fair and honest election, then we would obviously accept it.\u201d According to Comer, Raskin refused to certify Trump\u2019s 2016 win and has previously suggested the 2000 election was \u201cillegitimate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raskin told Axios that Trump \u201cis doing whatever he can to try to interfere with the process, whether we\u2019re talking about manipulating electoral college counts in Nebraska or manipulating the vote count in Georgia or imposing other kinds of impediments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comer called Raskin a \u201ctwo-time election denier\u201d who would make similar decisions during this year\u2019s general election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRaskin doesn\u2019t care at all about democracy. He only cares about putting a Democrat in the White House whatever the cost,\u201d Comer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other House members objected to Trump\u2019s election certification, including House Rules Committee Ranking Member Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) who told Axios the party would certify a Trump win \u201cassuming everything goes the way we expect it to.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have to see how it all happens,\u201d McGovern said, adding, \u201cMy expectation is that we would.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) left no question about the Democrats\u2019 commitment to certifying November\u2019s election results at a September press conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHouse Democrats are going to do everything necessary to \u2026 ensure that the winner of the presidential election is certified on Jan. 6 without drama or consequences,\u201d Jeffries said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
