{"id":4255,"date":"2024-01-24T16:33:01","date_gmt":"2024-01-24T08:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=4255"},"modified":"2024-01-24T16:33:06","modified_gmt":"2024-01-24T08:33:06","slug":"2-explosive-laden-drones-shot-down-in-iraqi-airbase-housing-u-s-forces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=4255","title":{"rendered":"2 explosive-laden drones shot down in Iraqi airbase housing U.S. forces"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two explosive-laden drones were shot down Tuesday by the air defense system at the Ayn al-Asad Airbase which houses U.S. troops in the western Iraqi province of Anbar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/\u56fe\u7247-14.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/\u56fe\u7247-14.png 300w, https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/\u56fe\u7247-14-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An Iraqi army officer told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that the drones were shot down in the evening while attacking the airbase near the town of al-Baghdadi, some 190 km northwest of the capital Baghdad, without causing casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iraqi Shiite militia, claimed responsibility for launching two booby-trapped drones toward the airbase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The militia said in an online statement that its fighters had launched &#8220;two separate drone attacks&#8221; on the Ayn al-Asad Airbase, stressing that it will continue its attacks on the U.S. bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The drone attack is the latest of the armed group&#8217;s retaliation actions against the U.S. forces amid the ongoing conflict in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza Strip, according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday, about 20 rockets were launched toward the Ayn al-Asad Airbase. Most of the rockets were shot down except for one rocket that landed on an empty area inside the base, according to an Iraqi military source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A soldier was wounded by the shrapnels of the rockets that were intercepted by the air defense system and exploded in the air, according to the source.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two explosive-laden drones were shot down Tuesday by the air defense system at the Ayn al-Asad Airbase which houses U.S. troops in the western Iraqi province of Anbar.
