The bottom line \u2014 he put it back,\u201d Trump told reporters when asked whether he spoke to Musk. Trump did not elaborate further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ukraine uses Starlink for battlefield communications and drone operations. Restricting the satellite service hampered the country\u2019s attack and air defense drone missions against Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Starlink system was working more normally on Thursday, shortly after the Trump-Musk conversation, the Journal reported earlier, citing U.S. and Ukrainian officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some Ukrainian officials told the newspaper that the system had not been restored to full functionality but was working at higher speeds than under the cap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said earlier Thursday that speed on Starlink systems had not been restored for Ukraine, adding that he hoped for talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump told Musk he was frustrated that the system\u2019s speeds remained capped, according to the newspaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump has denied being involved in the decision concerning the slowdown. Rubio told reporters Wednesday that decisions regarding Ukraine\u2019s access to Starlink were up to its parent company SpaceX and Musk, not the White House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zelenskyy\u2019s relations with Washington have sunk to new lows after Trump announced a deal to buy Russian diesel and waived new sanctions on Moscow. Trump has also told Kyiv to stop attacking Russian refineries and urged Ukrainians to replace Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Russia pounded Kyiv with ballistic missiles and Ukraine sent hundreds of drones toward Moscow on Thursday, as the warring sides kept up a barrage of attacks despite the latest U.S. push to end the conflict.
