Are you surprised? #Polymarketpartner,\u201d Hirsch wrote. The post has since been deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahead of the mistrial, more than $161,000 was wagered on the outcome of Clancy\u2019s trial on Polymarket. The trade wasn\u2019t available to U.S.-based users, only those located outside the country \u2014 while it isn\u2019t legal to bet on the outcome of court cases in the U.S. when it comes to standard sportsbooks and federally regulated financial exchanges, prediction sites like Polymarket remain legally ambiguous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following backlash, Hirsch called her decision to post about the trial for the brand partnership as \u201cinsensitive\u201d and \u201cwrong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI should have known better, and I feel sick that I didn\u2019t see that in the moment,\u201d she wrote in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hirsch, a mother herself, says she\u2019s been following the case and \u201ctalking about it constantly.\u201d She\u2019d posted previously about the case before the Polymarket ad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI became so consumed by the trial that I completely lost perspective and didn\u2019t stop to think about how grossly inappropriate it was to discuss something this tragic in that context,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clancy\u2019s trial has captured national attention and sparked highly emotional debates over mental health, as well as conspiracy theories surrounding the case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(NewsNation) \u2014 The host of a popular podcast has apologized after facing backlash for using the Lindsay Clancy trial in a Polymarket ad on her show.
