{"id":17470,"date":"2026-09-08T09:10:39","date_gmt":"2026-09-08T01:10:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=17470"},"modified":"2026-09-08T09:10:45","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T01:10:45","slug":"rudy-giuliani-urges-mamdani-to-not-attend-9-11-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=17470","title":{"rendered":"Rudy Giuliani urges Mamdani to not attend 9\/11 anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"632\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/2-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17471\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/2-1.png 632w, https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/2-1-300x161.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 632px) 100vw, 632px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City who later worked as President Trump\u2019s personal lawyer, publicly criticized current Mayor Zohran Mamdani for planning to attend a 9\/11 commemoration ceremony at Ground Zero on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFrankly, whatever he\u2019d like to say, he doesn\u2019t agree that September 11th was an Islamic terrorist attack on the United States of America,\u201d Giuliani said in an interview with Newsmax on Sunday. \u201cHaving lost friends there, and being very close to many of the families, it offends me that he\u2019s coming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Giuliani led the city through the aftermath of 9\/11 as mayor. Now, he has taken to espousing conspiracy theories about Muslims and Mamdani. He is the most prominent of a series of conservatives who have called on Mamdani not to attend the ceremony, including in a petition with 100,000 signatures that cites the mayor\u2019s support for people who are viewed as being \u201cdismissive of American institutions or insufficiently critical of extremist ideologies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Giuliani\u2019s criticism was heavily tinged with anti-Muslim sentiment and false claims about Mamdani\u2019s beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey have every desire to take us over. This is not, they want to be just another religion, they want to dominate us,\u201d Giuliani said of Muslims. \u201cMamdani is a clear supporter of that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mamdani has already responded to an online petition that wanted to ban him from attending the ceremony. He also signed two executive orders last week related to 9\/11, one to overhaul the city\u2019s emergency preparedness plans and one to establish the day as a \u201cCitywide Day of Remembrance and Service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI will proudly honor the families, the survivors, the first responders forever impacted by that horrific terror attack by standing alongside them at this year\u2019s 9\/11 commemoration, reaffirming that we will never forget the solemn day felt by all of us who call this city home and, frankly, by all of us who call this country home,\u201d Mamdani said in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mamdani will be with four of the five living presidents at Ground Zero, and Vice President Vance.
