{"id":17424,"date":"2026-09-04T09:25:17","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T01:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=17424"},"modified":"2026-09-04T09:25:26","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T01:25:26","slug":"trump-announces-telle-as-acting-army-secretary-following-driscolls-resignation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=17424","title":{"rendered":"Trump announces Telle as acting Army secretary following Driscoll\u2019s resignation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"667\" height=\"342\" src=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/9.png 667w, https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/9-300x154.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 667px) 100vw, 667px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Trump announced Thursday evening that Adam Telle, the current assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works, will be the acting Army secretary following this week\u2019s resignation of Dan Driscoll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe is a Great Patriot, who is respected by all,\u201d the president wrote in a Truth Social post announcing Telle\u2019s appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works, Telle oversaw public works functions and civil engineering, carrying out the Trump administration\u2019s priorities when it comes to waterways, ports and flood control infrastructure overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Telle is assuming the acting Army secretary role \u201ceffective immediately,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump\u2019s announcement comes a day after Driscoll, a close ally of Vice President Vance, left the position after months of internal clashes with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Driscoll\u2019s departure highlighted Hegseth\u2019s ambition to impose his will on the Army. The Pentagon chief has recently removed a number of its senior military officers \u2014 including Gen. Randy George, the Army\u2019s chief of staff, along with Gen. Chris Donahue, the commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Driscoll broke silence about his departure late Tuesday, saying his last full day as secretary would be on Wednesday. He did not share the reason for his departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs a third-generation Army veteran, it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as the Secretary of the Army under President Trump and Secretary Hegseth. Tomorrow is my last full day in the role,\u201d Driscoll said in a statement. \u201cOur Soldiers, Civilians and their Families are our Nation\u2019s very best and they have inspired me every day. I am sincerely thankful for their service and sacrifice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Telle has spent his career on Capitol Hill working for Senate Republicans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before being nominated for the assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works post, Telle worked as Sen. Bill Hagerty\u2019s (R-Tenn.) chief of staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The acting Army secretary appointee also worked in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs during Trump\u2019s first term. He was confirmed by the Senate for his Civil Works position last year in a 72-22 vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHuge congrats to Adam.
