President Donald Trump wants his supporters to think beyond his endorsed candidates and imagine that he is on the ballot when they vote in this year\u2019s midterm elections<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president made his new pitch Friday night in South Carolina at a rally in support of Sen. Darline Graham<\/a>, urging the crowd to back her in Tuesday\u2019s Senate GOP runoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe problem that we have is, they say that Trump does great when he\u2019s on the ballot, but when he\u2019s not on the ballot, his people don\u2019t come and they don\u2019t vote for senators, congressmen, and other Republicans,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo what I really want you to do is pretend, please, that I\u2019m on the ballot. Just come and vote. It\u2019s so important,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump suggested the MAGA faithful also take that approach in other elections as well, saying, \u201cWe have to get Darline and other people elected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president drove home the point near the end of his remarks about an hour later by telling supporters to think of him when they vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am on the ballot. We\u2019re all on the ballot. Our country\u2019s on the ballot,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That message to supporters comes as six of Trump\u2019s endorsed candidates failed to earn the Republican nomination<\/a> in their respective primaries for House or governor this month. Before August, only three Trump-backed candidates lost their bids in those contests so far this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president\u2019s endorsement of Graham for a full six-year term did not secure her a majority of the vote in the initial primary, and some of Trump\u2019s supporters at Friday\u2019s rally told NBC News they still had reservations about her<\/a> following a poor debate performance on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his nearly 90 minutes onstage Friday, Trump made no mention of the other person who actually is on the ballot in Tuesday\u2019s runoff: GOP Rep. Ralph Norman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
