He immediately outlined his position on Ukraine, according to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/10DowningStreet\/status\/2079323079868612878\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>&nbsp;from Andy Burnham&#8217;s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wes Streeting publicly emphasized that the key priority of the new UK government is ensuring the country&#8217;s security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the defense secretary noted, it is an honor for him to hold such an important position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We&#8217;ll ensure our armed forces have the resources they need and stand steadfast alongside our international allies, especially Ukraine,&#8221; Streeting emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is worth noting that the new British prime minister, Andy Burnham, is also often described as one of Ukraine&#8217;s most devoted supporters in British politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who is Wes Streeting, Britain&#8217;s new defense secretary?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He decided to devote his life to public and political activity while still at university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 2008 to 2010, Streeting headed the National Union of Students and later worked on education issues at the LGBT charity Stonewall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was also a local councillor in the London Borough of Redbridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2015, Streeting won a parliamentary election for the first time in the Ilford North constituency. Two years later, he won again in his constituency despite the Labour Party&#8217;s overall defeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2020, the politician became shadow junior minister for schools.
