{"id":16306,"date":"2026-06-07T13:09:58","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T05:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=16306"},"modified":"2026-06-07T13:10:03","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T05:10:03","slug":"at-least-12-people-wounded-in-shooting-near-festival-in-toledo-ohio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=16306","title":{"rendered":"At least 12 people wounded in shooting near festival in Toledo, Ohio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At least 12 people were shot Saturday near a neighborhood festival in Toledo, Ohio, authorities said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Toledo Police Department reported that the shooting occurred near the Old West End Festival, a little after 5:30 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a news briefing Saturday night, Toledo Deputy Police Chief Joe Heffernan told reporters that there were believed to be at least two shooters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It appears as though there were at least two shooters, I think they were probably shooting at each other,&#8221; Heffernan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At least 12 people sustained gunshot wounds, two of whom were in critical condition, Heffernan disclosed. The victims ranged in age from 14 to 61. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Police officers work at the scene of a shooting near a festival in Toledo, Ohio on June 6, 2026. \/ Credit: WTVG via AP<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heffernan said there were no suspects in custody at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It&#8217;s pretty active right now as far as the investigative part of this goes,&#8221; the deputy chief said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities said they were still working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting and a possible motive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to its website, the Old West End Festival is in its 53rd year, and consists of a parade, food markets and live music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tito Aguilar told CBS News he was ordering food when he witnessed a group of what he described as juveniles attacking another juvenile. Aguilar said he started recording on his cellphone, and then heard gunshots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the cellphone video he provided to CBS News, what sounds like at least 10 gunshots can be heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aguilar said he ran from the area, but eventually returned to locate his own friends and saw several people with apparent injuries from the shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I am deeply concerned about the situation in Toledo tonight,&#8221; Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GovMikeDeWine\/status\/2063410396178890810?ftag=MSF0951a18\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>&nbsp;in a social media post. &#8220;Summer festivals should be safe spaces for families to spend time together without fear of violence.
