Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) on Monday filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for the 2028 election, less than a week after losing his primary to a challenger endorsed by President Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI filed with FEC for the 2028 House race,\u201d Massie wrote on social media. \u201cThis allows me to raise funds to continue my political operations supporting my position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI haven\u2019t made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his post, Massie shared a statement of candidacy he filed with the FEC. In that filing, Massie designated his Kentucky-based campaign committee as his principal committee for 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also authorized the Transportation Trust Fund to \u201creceive and expend\u201d funds on his behalf. The Wisconsin-based joint fundraising committee raises money on behalf of the campaign committees of more than 30 House Republicans. As of the end of March, it received $98,000 in contributions and transferred more than $43,000 to other committees during this cycle, according to the FEC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Massie lost to Trump-backed Ed Gallrein in the GOP primary in the Bluegrass State\u2019s 4th Congressional District last Tuesday. The president backed Gallrein after Massie broke with him on issues, including the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the Jeffrey Epstein files and the Iran war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his concession speech, Massie\u2019s supporters chanted, \u201c2028!\u201d When Massie replied that the crowd wanted him to run for Congress again, his supporters yelled, \u201cNo!\u201d and repeatedly chanted, \u201cPresident!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Massie replied with a smirk, \u201cAlright, well you\u2019ve made a compelling argument, you spoke your peace, but I need a medical margarita right now and we\u2019ll talk about it later.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next day, the Kentucky lawmaker shared a video of his supporters chanting his name and wrote on social media, \u201cI lost the election but we started a revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added, \u201cKeep the flame of LIBERTY burning my friends! I will continue to put People and Principles before Party. America First!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During a Sunday interview on NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press,\u201d Massie also said he would \u201cnot rule out anything\u201d regarding his political future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLook, I\u2019ve spent the last five days on my farm with my grandkids, and my cattle, and my peach trees, and it\u2019s a pretty nice life,\u201d he told host Kristen Welker. \u201cI don\u2019t know if I want to screw that up again. I\u2019ve been in Congress 14 years, fighting. Every hour that passes, I get decompressed a little bit more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s like coming up from the bottom of the ocean. And I\u2019ll take some time and decide what\u2019s next. But I think I will stay engaged in some way or shape. Maybe it\u2019s from the outside. I\u2019ve been exposing what\u2019s going on in Washington, D.C., for years, and I\u2019ll keep doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
