That is down from 29 percent who said the same in July 2024 and 27 percent who said the same in August 2022, when the poll began measuring registered voters\u2019 confidence in the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forty percent of respondents in the NBC News poll said they had \u201csome\u201d confidence in the nation\u2019s highest court, while 28 percent said they had \u201cvery little\u201d and 10 percent said they had \u201cnone at all.\u201d In July 2024, 29 percent of respondents said they had \u201csome\u201d confidence in the Supreme Court, with 35 percent saying the same in August 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court has made some controversial decisions in recent years, from overturning Roe v. Wade to ruling in favor of President Trump when it comes to presidential immunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the current Supreme Court leans conservative, it did recently go against Trump by shooting down most of his sweeping tariffs. In Trump\u2019s second term, his tariff policy has strained relationships with allies such as the European Union and Canada, rattled global markets and increased economic uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NBC News poll found 54 percent of respondents backing the Supreme Court\u2019s tariff ruling, while 27 percent were against it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump\u2019s job approval in the poll also dipped by 3 points from the previous year, with 44 percent of respondents saying they either \u201cstrongly\u201d or \u201csomewhat\u201d backed the president\u2019s job performance, down from 47 percent in March 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NBC News poll took place from Feb. 27 to March 3, featured 1,000 registered voters and had a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>American voters\u2019 confidence in the Supreme Court has hit a record low, according to a new poll.
