President Trump on Saturday said he wants the proposed arc in Washington, D.C., to be the \u201cbiggest\u201d in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president told reporters that he\u2019s considering building \u201can arc that\u2019s like the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re setting up a committee ,and the committee is going to be going over it, but it\u2019ll be substantial,\u201d the president told reporters aboard Air Force One.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019d like it to be the biggest one of all. We\u2019re the biggest, most powerful nation. I\u2019d like it to be the biggest one of all,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump first spoke about the project last October, during a dinner for donors contributing to the renovation of the White House ballroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, Trump said the arc\u2019s location would be near the Lincoln Memorial at the entrance to Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A report from The Washington Post said the president is considering building the arc to stand at 250 feet tall, towering over Paris\u2019 Arc de Triomphe, which stands at 164 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would also become the world\u2019s largest arc, surpassing the Monumento a la Revoluci\u00f3n (Monument to the Revolution) in Mexico City, measured at 220 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Post said the president was first considering developing a temporary arc but decided on a permanent structure to honor America\u2019s 250th anniversary. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are 57 cities throughout the world that have them. We\u2019re the only major city, Washington DC, that doesn\u2019t\u2026\u201d the president told reporters Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
