{"id":14527,"date":"2026-01-12T10:59:30","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T02:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=14527"},"modified":"2026-01-12T10:59:35","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T02:59:35","slug":"trump-pulls-us-out-of-more-than-30-un-bodies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/?p=14527","title":{"rendered":"Trump pulls US out of more than 30 UN bodies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14528\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1-5.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tingchao.xyz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1-5-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Presient Trump has long been critical of the United Nations and other international organizations.\u00a9\u00a0Alex Wong\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>President Trump has withdrawn the U.S. from dozens of international organizations, including U.N. commissions and major bodies set up to tackle climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An executive order posted Wednesday evening said the U.S. would withdraw from and end funding to 66 international groups and agencies, calling them \u201ccontrary to the interests of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list includes the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The changes will see the U.S. ending its participation and cutting all funding to the affected entities, Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a post on X on Wednesday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the 66 listed organizations as \u201canti-American, useless, or wasteful,\u201d adding that the government was conducting a review of additional international groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese withdrawals keep a key promise President Trump made to Americans \u2013 we will stop subsidizing globalist bureaucrats who act against our interests,\u201d Rubio said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the White House list of organizations the U.S. is pulling out of are 31 United Nations bodies, several of which are involved in protecting vulnerable groups during armed conflicts, including the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump and his allies have long been critical of the United Nations, other international organizations and multilateral agreements. The executive order deepens the administration\u2019s withdrawal from international climate diplomacy. It also includes the U.S. exit from the 1992 U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, a treaty aimed at stabilizing greenhouse-gas concentrations and requiring member states to submit annual inventories of their emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, Trump for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/trump-dismantles-climate-policies-on-first-day-in-office-9c0d4b61\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">second time pulled the U.S. out<\/a>&nbsp;of the Paris climate agreement\u2014the world\u2019s most significant effort to curb rising global temperatures\u2014and chose not to send a delegation to the COP30 climate summit in Brazil.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Trump has withdrawn the U.S. from dozens of international organizations, including U.N. commissions and major bodies set up to tackle climate change.
