It\u2019s an honor to have you. It\u2019s a special place. You know, for 150 years, they\u2019ve been trying to do a ballroom,\u201d the president said during the Congressional Ball Thursday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey never got it up, but we got it off. In a very short period of time, like about a year and a half, you\u2019re going to have the best ballroom anywhere in the country,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump\u2019s new ballroom has been the subject of much controversy in recent months, with the president\u2019s East Wing demolition to create space for the project receiving heavy backlash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ballroom was slammed as a \u201cvanity project\u201d by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). Sen. Donald Trump can\u2019t hear you over the sound of bulldozers demolishing a wing of the White House to build a new grand ballroom,\u201d Sen.
