Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), once a staunch supporter of President Trump\u2019s MAGA agenda, now suggested she no longer associates herself with that label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre you MAGA?\u201d anchor Lesley Stahl asked Greene in an interview on CBS\u2019s \u201c60 Minutes,\u201d which aired on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m America first,\u201d Greene replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stahl pressed: \u201cAnd that\u2019s not the same as MAGA?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMAGA is President Trump\u2019s phrase. That\u2019s his, his political policies,\u201d Greene said, referring to the \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d slogan that propelled the president\u2019s 2016 campaign to victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI call myself America first,\u201d Greene continued, describing the ideological outlook that the president has long embraced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut you\u2019re, you\u2019re not saying you\u2019re MAGA. That\u2019s over,\u201d Stahl asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greene shook her head no, saying, \u201cI\u2019m America first. Yep.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interview comes amid a public split between Greene and the president, who repeatedly attacked Greene after she spoke out against his position on releasing documents related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Trump eventually reversed his position, backing the public release of files, but continued to call Greene a traitor. Greene shocked the political world when she announced last month that she would resign from Congress on Jan. 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greene, in the interview, called into question whether Trump truly embraces an \u201cAmerica first\u201d agenda anymore. She noted that the president labeled her a traitor around the same time he was entertaining controversial figures in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe did this in the same time span where President Trump brought in the al Qaeda leader that was wanted by the U.S. government, who is now the president of Syria. Then within a week, he brought in the Crown Prince, MBS, who murdered an American journalist. And then he brought in the newly elected Democrat Socialist mayor of New York,\u201d she said. \u201cThat was the time span that he called me a traitor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She suggested the president focuses too much on his international agenda and isn\u2019t prioritizing the needs of Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor an America First president, the number one focus should have been domestic policy, and it wasn\u2019t. And so, of course I was critical because those were my campaign promises. Once we fix everything here, then, fine, we\u2019ll talk to the rest of the world,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
