President Trump late Friday announced he is pulling his endorsement and support of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and would support a primary challenge against her \u2014 a major escalation of their growing beef after months of the House Republican criticizing fellow GOP members and the commander in chief himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am withdrawing my support and Endorsement of \u2018Congresswoman\u2019 Marjorie Taylor Greene, of the Great State of Georgia,\u201d Trump wrote on Truth Social, adding that despite his record, \u201call I see \u2018Wacky\u2019 Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump in the post called Greene a \u201cranting lunatic\u201d and that she has \u201cgone Far Left.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The un-endorsement came days after a discharge petition to force a vote on a bill directing the Department of Justice to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein got enough signatures to succeed. Greene was one of four Republicans to sign on, in spite of fierce objections of Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greene\u2019s split from the president she had once adamantly supported started months earlier, after Trump discouraged Greene earlier this year from running for statewide office in Georgia, which Trump confirmed in the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt seemed to all begin when I sent her a Poll stating that she should not run for Senator, or Governor, she was at 12%, and didn\u2019t have a chance (unless, of course, she had my Endorsement \u2014 which she wasn\u2019t about to get!),\u201dTrump said in the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe has told many people that she is upset that I don\u2019t return her phone calls anymore, but with 219 Congressmen\/women, 53 U.S. Senators, 24 Cabinet Members, almost 200 Countries, and an otherwise normal life to lead, I can\u2019t take a ranting Lunatic\u2019s call every day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greene in a response on X said that Trump \u201clied about me\u201d \u2014 \u201cI haven\u2019t called him at all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She shared a text message she sent Trump earlier on Friday encouraging him to \u201clean into\u201d the Epstein files issue, noting former President Clinton\u2019s connections to Epstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cApparently this is what sent him over the edge. The Epstein files. And of course he\u2019s coming after me hard to make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next weeks vote to release the Epstein files,\u201d Greene said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut really most Americans wish he would fight this hard to help the forgotten men and women of America who are fed up with foreign wars and foreign causes, are going broke trying to feed their families, and are losing hope of ever achieving the American dream,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly before making the post, Trump told reporters while traveling to his Mar-a-Lago resort that he was open to endorsing someone in primary bid against Greene. On Truth Social, he went further, writing that \u201cthe right person runs, they will have my Complete and Unyielding Support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSomething happened to her over the last period of a month or two where she changed, I think, politically,\u201d he told reporters on Air Force One. \u201cI think that her constituents aren\u2019t going to be happy. Already I have people calling me, they want to challenge her to a race in her district in Georgia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Greene forged her political identity in Congress as a fierce loyalist of President Trump, she has put herself on the opposite side of many of the president\u2019s positions since he has been back in the White House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greene over the summer opposed Trump\u2019s strike on Iran, and became first Republican in Congress to dub Israel\u2019s actions in Gaza a \u201cgenocide.\u201d She signed the Epstein discharge petition. And she went against Republicans\u2019 shutdown messaging, saying the GOP have no plan to address health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greene told The Hill in an interview in October that she is \u201c100 percent the same person today as I was when I ran for Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of his post, Trump took a swipe at Greene for appearing on \u201cThe View\u201d last week, during which she said that it is \u201cOK\u201d if Trump does not \u201clove\u201d her back right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
