President Trump defended raids conducted and tactics used by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers this year, saying he believes \u201cthey haven\u2019t gone far enough.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a clip of his \u201c60 Minutes\u201d interview shared on Sunday evening, CBS News\u2019s Norah O\u2019Donnell asked the president if he believed some raids had gone too far after videos surfaced of agents using tear gas in a Chicago residential neighborhood and smashing car windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo. I think they haven\u2019t gone far enough, because we\u2019ve been held back by judges \u2014 by the liberal judges that were put in by Biden and by Obama, \u201d Trump responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When O\u2019Donnell asked if he was \u201cOK with those tactics,\u201d Trump responded, \u201cWell, yeah, because you have to get the people out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou have to look at the people. Many of them are murderers. Many of them are people thrown out of their countries because they were, you know, criminals,\u201d he added, also saying his administration was deporting them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou promised in your campaign that you were going to deport the worst of the worst \u2014 violent criminals, rapists, \u201d O\u2019Donnell said, with Trump responding, \u201cWe\u2019re doing that. That\u2019s what we\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut a lot of the people that your administration has arrested and deported aren\u2019t violent criminals: landscapers, nannies, construction workers, farmworkers, the families of service members,\u201d O\u2019Donnell rebutted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLandscapers who are criminals, yeah,\u201d Trump responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIs it your intent to deport people without a criminal record?\u201d O\u2019Donnell asked Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have to start off with a policy, and the policy has to be that \u2018You came into the country illegally, you\u2019re going to go out,’\u201d Trump said. \u201cHowever, you\u2019ve also seen, \u2018You\u2019re going to go out. We\u2019re going to work with you, and you\u2019re going to come back into our country legally.’\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since returning to the White House, Trump has increased immigration raids nationwide, sending masked federal agents into some \u201csanctuary cities\u201d in an effort to deport immigrants allegedly in the country illegally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cities such as Chicago and Boston have seen a significant increase in immigration enforcement operations beginning this week, and Department of Homeland Security sources say ICE is \u201ceverywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker have slammed Trump\u2019s immigration operations in their states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie (D) condemned the reported deployment of federal immigration officers to his city, saying it would incite \u201cchaos and violence,\u201d rather than reduce crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
