Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) said Monday she plans to file a resolution to strip her House colleague, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), of committee assignments following comments from Omar in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBREAKING: We\u2019re filing a resolution to strip @Ilhan of her committee assignments after her disgraceful remarks on Charlie Kirk\u2019s assassination,\u201d Mace said in a post on the social platform X Monday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resolution, also featured in Mace\u2019s post, has a goal of \u201ccensuring Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and removing her from the Committee on Education and Workforce and the Committee on the Budget.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, Omar criticized Republican attacks on the left after the fatal shooting of Kirk, calling them \u201cfull of s\u2011\u2011\u2011.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou have people like Nancy Mace, who constantly harass, you know, people that she finds inferior and wants them not to exist in this country or ever,\u201d Omar told left-wing pundit Mehdi Hasan in an interview on his Zeteo platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd, you know, you have people like Trump, who has incited violence against people like me. And so, you know, these people are full of s\u2011\u2011\u2011, and it\u2019s important for us to call them out while we feel anger and sadness,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omar also said video and news of Kirk\u2019s assassination were \u201creally mortifying.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was really mortifying to hear the news, to see the video. You know, all I could think about was his wife, his children \u2014 that image is going to live forever,\u201d she told Hasan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after Kirk\u2019s death, Mace decried his death via a series of social media posts, placing blame on the left for a rise in political violence despite statements from Democrats condemning the fatal shooting<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf you have a different opinion from the left, they want to kill you. That is a fact, and that\u2019s the way you all should report it,\u201d Mace said previously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When reached for comment, a spokesperson for Omar said that she \u201cwas one of the first to condemn Charlie Kirk\u2019s murder.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe explicitly expressed her sympathies and prayers to his wife and children. She condemned his assassination and has routinely condemned political violence, no matter the political ideology,\u201d the spokesperson continued<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe same can\u2019t be said about those who authored these resolutions. In her interview, she also grappled with his divisive legacy, but she in no way implied violence was deserved, nor did she celebrate his death.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
